Fallout 3 is the first Fallout game I played, and at that point was my favorite game ever. It wasn't supplanted as my #1 until I played New Vegas. Imo, FO3 is the moodiest-looking of the modern (3, 4, NV, 76) games, and has a wonderful number of storytelling vignettes to find if you like exploring.
